If a Japanese company starts business in a licensed sector without first receiving the requisite license, it will be shut down, fined, and in certain cases, the directors or managers may be imprisoned. If a company doing business in a licensed sector changes its registered details and does not notify the licensing agency about the changed details within 60 days, it may be fined, and in certain cases, shutdown and its license withdrawn.
